A MAN'S quest to find work on the Fraser Coast is one step closer to success.

Chad Delandre launched a one-man protest outside the office of Epic Employment on Friday.

He was angry he had not had a phone call, or interview, from his employment provider in 12 months.

His story quickly gained attention on the Chronicle website and Chad says he is now hopeful of finding work.

He had a 90-minute interview with Epic on Monday, and a further interview for a paid traineeship in agriculture was arranged for Tuesday.

"It still doesn't mean I have got the job, but I believe with my attitude and willingness to work... it will get me the traineeship," he said.

Chad said he also received a job offer from someone who commented on the Chronicle website but the job fell through.

Chad said other people who could not get work should protest to get the message across peacefully that more needs to be done to improve employment opportunities.
