A Jetstar flight arrives on the Sunshine Coast

Jetstar selling popular flights for as little as $13

First it was Tigerair with their $1 return fare sale, and now Jetstar has amped up the airline airfare war with $13 fares, but there's a catch.

Jetstar is offering 10,000 domestic fares from $13 but passengers need to be part of its Club Jetstar membership program to purchase the tickets.

Passengers can sign up to the program for $49 before the sale starts at noon tomorrow lasting until 1159pm Thursday night.

The sale includes fares on some of its most popular routes including Melbourne to Gold Coast for $13 and longer domestic routes such as Sydney to Perth for under $50.

SO WHAT'S THE BENEFIT OF BECOMING A CLUB JETSTAR MEMBER?

• Exclusive member fares - discounted fares on select domestic and international flights

• Early access to sales - members will receive an email giving early access on up to six sales each year

• 20 per cent discount on baggage and seat selection

• Shared benefits with family and friends - members can use their benefits for up to four additional guests per booking

SO WHAT DO THE SAVINGS REALLY LOOK LIKE?

According to Jetstar, members can book a couples getaway and save up to $54 on a return domestic trip and up to $88 on a return international trip. Families who purchase a single membership can save up to $108 on a return domestic trip and up to $177 on an return international trip.

If you drill that down, that's $27 per person in a couple or family of four on a domestic trip, and $44 on an international trip, so the savings aren't enormous.
