JETSTAR support for the Sunshine Coast market continues to grow with the airline announcing it will add extra Sydney and Melbourne flights over Easter.

Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager Peter Pallot has welcomed Jetstar's boost to capacity over the busy holiday period.

"Jetstar will provide an additional 2,160 seats over the 11-day Easter period to cater for the increased demand between April 1-11," Mr Pallot said.

"The extra flights between Sydney and Melbourne are a great opportunity to boost what is shaping up to be a bumper Easter for our tourism industry.

"The extra capacity will provide a great opportunity for families to connect over the Easter period, both here and interstate."

Sunshine Coast Destination Limited CEO Simon Ambrose said the organisation was encouraged to see Jetstar get behind the Sunshine Coast.

"This is a testament to the strong marketing activity we are doing in those markets and our targeted campaigns are showing results," Mr Ambrose said.

"Having these extra Jetstar flights demonstrates the Sunshine Coast is a growing destination for the Sydney and Melbourne markets.

"Our research shows there is potential for further growth in the Sydney market, in particular.

"This is an excellent initiative by Jetstar and an indication of the mature, positive relationship between the airline and Sunshine Coast Airport."

Mr Ambrose agreed the Easter tourism was looking very strong on the Sunshine Coast.

"After a very busy and solid summer period, it will be great to herald in another strong Easter," he said.

"We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the region."
