Jetstar cut Mackay-Gold Coast route indefintely

JETSTAR will suspend services between the Gold Coast and Mackay from September.

"We never take the decision to suspend a route lightly, however these flights have not performed in line with our expectations and continuing to operate them is unsustainable," a Jetstar spokeswoman said.

"While we've worked hard to stimulate the Gold Coast-Mackay market with heavily discounted fares, passenger loads on these flights have consistently been up to 10 percentage points below our domestic average."

The Qantas Group will continue to operate a total of 63 return flights each week, offering close to 14,000 seats across Jetstar flights to Brisbane, and QantasLink flights to Brisbane, Townsville and Rockhampton.
