Jesse Morris celebrates Freedom at Mullum

GLOBE-TROTTING, acoustic, soul, roots and reggae troubadours Jesse Morris Band are kicking off the next leg on their national tour at the Poinciana Cafe in Mullumbimby this weekend.

The local gig is the first of a series of shows and festivals the band is performing at across the coast from Byron to Cairns, including Pranafest at Mt Warning National Park on September 10, PermaFeast at Paradise One in Coorabell Creek on September 16, Wallaby Creek Festival in Cairns on September 30, among others.

This tour celebrates the band's latest release, the Freedom EP.

The EP features the title track, Freedom Has No Measure, a track co-written with a volunteer teacher and co-founder of a small Cambodian island school. Proceeds from this EP go directly back to supporting the school

Jesse Morris band promises soul-filled gypsy storytelling, acoustic roots and reggae, blues and roots, positive soul music and eclectic beats for all ages.

Core members of the band are Jesse Morris, TK Bass Dread, Hugh Jones and Stafford Smith, with regular guests Rosie Misschief, Chel Bell, Aya Trumpet, Stuart Currie, Marky Power and Damian Campbell, among others.

At the Poinciana Cafe in Mullumbimby today from 6pm.
