Jerseys on to show the boys want Fatty in Gladdy

BROTHERS Juniors play on Saturdays, train on any day that starts with a 'T' and on Wednesday they sit at home and laugh at The NRL Footy Show.

There is talk the much loved Paul 'Fatty' Vautin could be coming to Gladstone after mayor Matt Burnett sent out an ambitious invitation to broadcast the show live from town the day after the Maroons Fan Day.

The juniors got behind the bid by donning their jerseys and here at the Observer we're asking the Footy Show to give Gladstone a go.

If you want The Footy Show to come to Gladstone take a photo of you in your jersey and Tweet, Instagram, Facebook or email us with #getyourjerseyonforgladdy.

Fourteen-year-old Izaak Selmes said he liked the show because it was funny, not necessarily for the footy.

"I hope they come to Gladstone," he said. "Nothing really important happens in Gladstone and it would be great for it."

His team mate Claude Melve said it takes dedication to watch the show every week on a school night.

He said 'Fatty" was his favourite because everyone always took the mickey out of him. Ten-year-old Zane Moore's favourite host is 'Fatty' as well. "Sometimes I have to go to bed but I do like 'Fatty"," he said.

"He gets teased and doesn't get upset. He's just really funny."

Ten-year-old Harrison Leis said the show taught him how to play the game. "It teaches you how to tackle and how to use the ball on the field," he said. Nine-year-old Isaiah Watts was happy his teammates were excited but didn't know what all the fuss was about. "I don't really ever watch it," he said.

"We have Foxtel and watch the Simpsons."
