It's time to go back to school for Dalby's U3A members
IT'S back to school for Dalby over-50s with the return of the University of the Third Age for 2019.
Following the school calendar, U3A members held an orientation day on Tuesday morning, featuring morning tea, music, speeches and the opportunity to sign up to classes for the coming term.
Dozens of sheets of paper lined the tables, giving participants an opportunity to sign up to activities and lessons of their choice.
Sessions are offered include local history, line dancing, Scrabble, mah-jong, leather work, table tennis, cards, creative writing, indoor bowls, aqua aerobics, art, dress making, gardening, exercise and pottery.
There is also choir and a book club.
U3A president Sally Kelly said there was something for everyone.
"It's basically to keep older people active mentally and physically,” she said.
Membership, at $30, is open to anyone older than 50.
Those who missed the open day are still able to join.
"People can come any time during the year,” Ms Kelly said.
"We're very easygoing. The more the merrier.”
The U3A is run from the Dalby Senior Citizens' Centre, on the corner of Condamine and Roche st.
