Exciting and affordable things to do with the kids
EXCITING and affordable.
That is the brief that Sunshine Coast Council worked toward when compiling the program of events and activities at its venues across the Coast these summer school holidays.
For those who enjoy watching movies on the big screen, Arthouse Cinema Nambour will kick off the holiday period on Tuesday, January 6 with the screening of the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Kids can follow the adventures of the humanoid warrior turtles for only $9 and receive free popcorn. There are ample opportunities to see this and other kids' movies with a range of dates in January.

Magic comes to life on stage when BATS Theatre Co Inc presents pantomime Cinderella on at the Lake Kawana Community Centre, starting on Saturday, January 10.
Kids and "big kids" can join in the fun with lots of singing and dancing.
The show recreates the traditional fairytale of Cinderella, complete with a handsome prince, ugly step sisters and Buttons - Cinderella's special friend, for $14 per ticket.
Lake Kawana Community Centre presents The Listies Make You LOL! on Tuesday, January 13. It's a comedy perfect for children aged six to 12 years and features alien attacks, toilet paper guns, spew, the rudest word in the world and the most disgusting undies you have ever seen in your life.
Tickets are $18 or $15 for SCvip members.
If your child loves drama then they will have a ball at the Little Seed Theatre Company's week long intensive drama workshop at Nambour Civic Centre. Kids can receive drama training with the opportunity to act in two full pantomime performances at the end of the week, showcasing to family and friends all they have learnt.
If your child enjoys outdoor activities, you can't go past what's on offer at the Sunshine Coast Stadium these school holidays.
The Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy, with Kawana Aquatic Centre, will offer skilled bike, swimming and running sessions.
Beginning Tuesday, January 12 for four separate dates, there are plenty of opportunities to join in.
Participants will also have the chance to put their newly acquired skills into action with a mini kids' triathlon throughout the sports precinct. It costs $7.50 per person for a one-hour session.
