David Martin

IT WAS good to catch up with owner/driver David Martin from Devonport the other day when he rolled in to "Mood Food" for a cuppa and a bite.

He was driving his 2004 FM420 Volvo and towing an SRT pan loaded with groceries from Hobart to Devonport and looking forward to knocking off for the day.

David tells us his father had Martin's Freight Services, so he grew up among trucks and started his driving career there, "driving B-doubles since I was 18, in fact".

"When he got out of the business, I bought this truck in early February 2011, and began subbying for S.R.T., who have been really good people to tow for, and they have kept me working steadily through the holidays, me and my travelling 'Bundy Bear' buddies up on the dash board. And the Volvo has lived up to its reputation."
