Isuzu Trucks market leader

ISUZU Trucks has continued its extraordinary run as Australian truck market leader after recording its twenty-third consecutive year at the top of the sales charts at the end of 2011.

Official T-mark industry reports reveal Isuzu Trucks finished 2011 with a total of 6617 units sold and a market share of almost 24% - 3283 units and an 11.8% share ahead of its nearest competitor.

Isuzu dominated the light duty segment finishing with a 37.6% share and 3320 units, more than the combined market share and volume of the second and third-placed manufacturers.

Isuzu also comfortably lead medium duty truck sales with a 40.7% market share for a total of 2553 units.

This performance left Isuzu over 17% clear of its closest competitor in terms of market share along with a volume buffer of 1072 units.

The brand also performed admirably in the heavy duty market - its 7.9% market share and volume of 744 units confirmed Isuzu's position as Australia's favourite heavy duty Japanese manufacturer.

Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) director and chief operating officer Phil Taylor said the brand had remained resilient despite last year's demanding business conditions and the impact of natural disasters in Japan.

"The combination of a challenging business environment coupled with the flooding in Queensland and Japanese natural disasters - which subsequently affected vehicle production - made for an extremely demanding year," Mr Taylor said.

"Given this, IAL greatly appreciates the support and patience of all our loyal customers in 2011, especially any that may have been inconvenienced."
