Isuzu stand at Megatrans electrifying

ISUZU Australia Limited had some exciting plans to unveil when it attended supply and logistics event MegaTrans, held recently at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 10-12.

The event drew a wide audience, looking to gain an overview of all aspects of the supply chain and logistics industry.

There was something for everyone at the Isuzu stand. The class-leading Ready to Work range, including the Servicepack-X, Vanpack, and Tri-Tipper, were just some of the trucks on display.

But most exciting was the first public display of Isuzu's locally developed electric vehicle concept program which was launched at a media dinner on May 9.

IAL's Chief Engineer, Product Strategy, Simon Humphries held a product presentation on Friday afternoon, where he outlined the details of the concept program.

The NQR and FSR were chosen as the models for Isuzu's concept EV technology.

IAL Sales and Marketing director Andrew Harbison said there was a lot of interest in the new Isuzu models on display.

"The interest we've had around the new models has been incredibly satisfying," said Mr Harbison.

"The amount of research that has gone into the creation of these models, including the Servicepack X and particularly the new EV concept vehicles has been significant.

"Operators working in the freight and logistics field, particularly those involved in 'last mile' freight, were eager to engage and learn about the new technology these vehicles use.

MegaTrans gave attendees the chance to see how the industry's market leader in road freight fit into the logistics and freight mix.

Simon Humphries re-iterated the importance of creating innovative product solutions for the future, while continuing to meet customers' application needs.

"The beauty of an event like MegaTrans is that it gives us the opportunity to showcase how Isuzu trucks address not only specific application issues but our commitment to evolution.

"It's about listening to the market but also looking ahead, as exemplified by our Servicepack X. We continually look to improve our product offerings," said Mr Humphries.

"And nothing speaks to Isuzu's commitment to evolution more than our new EV concept program.

"Lithium-Ion batteries, direct-drive permanent magnet motors, on-board charging units that connect to three-phase power outlets, these are some of the innovations involved in the EV concept program which are very exciting."
