Isabella's oreo cheesecake leaves showgoers drooling

ISABELLA Richard's homemade Oreo cheesecake left showgoers' mouths watering, winning her the People's Choice award in the cheesecake section at the Charleville Show.

The public were able to tantalise their tastebuds by sampling all the delicious entries on Friday morning and then vote for their favourite cheesecake.

"It felt really good winning People's Choice,” Isabella told the Times.

"In previous years I've entered cakes in other categories, but this was my first year entering a cheesecake so it was more of a challenge.”

Satisfying the sweet tooths of her friends and family, as well as her own, has been a favourite pastime of Isabella's.

Her love of baking started at a young age when she would help her mother, Natasha in the kitchen by cracking eggs and mixing cake batter.

"Baking desserts has always been my favourite because it means I get to eat them after,” Isabella laughed.

Now, at 11-years-old, Isabella will happily take over and cook dinner for the family if her mother isn't feeling well or when she wants to give her a much deserved break.

"She's a massive help to me,” Mrs Richards said.

"There's been times when I've been away with her brothers because they've broken some bones and she makes sure the family gets fed.

"She makes my life even easier by making her own home-made sushi for her lunch at school.”

Isabella also took out the judge's second place in the unbaked cheesecake section, with Marie Phillott and Carmel Hunter claiming first place in the unbaked and baked categories.
