Ireland says get the facts right

THE assertion by Neil McLean (QT, 14/04/16) that Redbank Plains has missed out through the announcement of a community centre on School Rd is incorrect.

A lot of work has gone into planning for this centre, including a significant investigation that revealed the best locations for future community centres were at Redbank Plains, Springfield Central and Augustine Heights.

The transitional centre that is planned to be installed at School Rd will be a modern, well-appointed, multi-purpose facility that will allow for a wide range of community needs to be met.

It will be air-conditioned, include all the necessary amenities residents would expect of a community centre and may even include a coffee shop.

It has been made clear through feedback gathered during my monthly meetings with residents over the past eight years that this centre is a priority for the community.

The transitional nature of this centre means that when the time comes to build a permanent centre, this facility can be relocated and repurposed, providing ongoing value to the community.
