Indonesian surfing accident claims loved Sawtell local
THE Sawtell Boardriders community is reeling after the shock death of a much loved local.
Ron Schneider, 54, was on a surfing trip with fellow Boardriders members in the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia when a wave slammed him into a rock at South Sipora on Tuesday.
On the Boardriders Facebook page, club president Mark Hodgson described Schneider in a post as: "A great bloke who would do anything to help the club out".
Informal drinks are being held this afternoon at Sawtell's Southside Beach to celebrate the life of the father of three.
