IGGY Azalea, the rapper who grew up in Mullumbimby, is set to support Beyonce on the Australian leg of her world tour.

Beyonce, who has added extra shows to her Mrs Carter World Tour in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, announced the "Australian-born MC Iggy Azalea will be the support act at all 14 shows".

However, the blonde model-come-rapper has subsequently pulled out of the New Zealand leg of the tour, to be replaced by ex-Australian idol star Stan Walker.

The 23-year-old is no stranger to the spotlight, with her confronting film clips, relaxed approach to nudity, and her notoriously open-book interview style.

She famously came under fire for using a Bollywood theme in her video for the song Bounce and was accused of trivialising black culture by describing herself as a "runaway slave master", which she later apologised for.

However, it looks like she'll be turning heads for the right reasons when she comes back to Australia later this year to share the stage with a superstar diva.

Ms Azalea - whose real name is Amethyst Kelly - rose to stardom in the USA after she left Mullumbimby at the age of 15 to find fame in the hip-hop world.

When fans flocked to her rap videos on YouTube, she signed with Interscope Records.

Her most recent single Change Your Life, a collaboration with hip-hop superstar TI, is available for pre-order on iTunes now.

Ms Azalea hasn't indicated whether she will return to Mullumbimby when she visits Australia for the tour.

The Mrs Carter Show World Tour will kick off in Melbourne on October 22.
