IF YOU don't own an i something then it may be time to catch up.

iPads, iPods and iPhones have become the most popular gadgets to own.

If you're waiting on the edge of your seat to find out about the new gadgets for this year, the best is yet to come.

Next Byte Mackay business manager Todd Spencer said Apple enthusiasts would have to wait if they wanted know what or when new Apple products would be released.

"Apple doesn't tend to put a release date on anything," Mr Spencer said.

"A big focus for this year will be wireless technology.

"Apple TV is a new item; it's been re-designed, refreshed and re-released.

"You can download movies and TV shows, play music wirelessly and control it through an iPhone or iPad."

Apps continue to become more popular but one relating to the solar system was particularly interesting, Mr Spencer said.

"The SkyView app allows you download information about the solar system while you're holding the iPhone or iPad up to the sky and you can easily find out what planet you're looking at and it's a free app.

"There's a DJ app too where people can be their own DJ and mix their music."

He said laptops were becoming thinner too.

"The Macbook Air is thinner at 11 and 13 inches and they're super portable and more compact," Mr Spencer said.

"They retail from $1099 -$2899."

If you ever thought of controlling a helicopter from your iPhone or iPad it could now be a reality, Mr Spencer said.

"People can download an app that can control remote controlled helicopters and remote controlled cars can be control from their device," he said.

Mr Spencer said iPads could now be purchased on plans.

"They can be purchased on a Telstra plan which is $59 each month on a 24 month contract.

"All Apple technology can communicate together wirelessly too."
