Humpbacks on our TV screens via 60 Minutes story
HERVEY Bay's humpbacks will be the focus of a 60 Minutes story, which will go to air this Sunday.
The segment will focus on scientific research in the region by the Oceania Project's Wally and Trish Franklin.
The couple have been involved in the research of humpback whales in Hervey Bay for 25 years.
Tourism Fraser Coast acting general manager Robbie Cornelius said the publicity value of the 60 Minutes story would be more than $750,000.
He said the segment, expected to be viewed by about two million people, added to the exposure recently given to the region by Channel Seven's Sunrise program, showcasing live whale watching.
