HOT TOPICS: Your say on driver's roadside leak
A DRIVER was hit with a whopping $541 fine for answering nature's call during a roadside check.
The driver was shocked when he was handed the Penalty Notice by a Transport Roads and Maritime Services officer at the Armidale inspection site.
The offence, which comes under the Roads Regulation accused him of "allowing to escape onto a road any liquid or any loose or waste material”, however the infringement was withdrawn after Big Rigs questioned it.
Big Rigs social media users shared their frustration at the lack of facilities on the roads.
- Tualua Linden: Is that for real? Most car travelling a long distance do this all the time. Picking on truck drivers again? For goodness sakes!
- Benjamin James Murray: Often you have no choice but to take a leak on the side of the road as there is minimal facilities suitable for truck drivers. The parking bay at Wahroonga is a good example, it is the first chance to stop coming out of Sydney but no toilets. Because there is no facilities many truck drivers take a leak on the ground and it smells foul as a result.
- Ethan Pinner: If their is clean operational toilet facilities at that site sure he deserves the fine but I doubt there was toilets most rest stops have nothing.
- Russell Heithersay: I got pulled over by police a few years back Asking why I was in such a hurry -in which I told the officers I needed to use the loo they said go on the side of the road just face the other way two different rules obviously.
