TRUCK drivers face a life-and- death battle on our roads every single day.

Tony Cutler, who has been driving trucks for 36 years, said it was a daily battle against other motorists for truckies to get to their destination.

He spoke out after a school teacher told The Northern Star she was left shaken and fearful after two close encounters with trucks while driving.

Readers shared their thoughts on the issue.

Steven Scuba Dawson: I feel like a lot of the complaints about trucks from cars, are the same you get about cars from cyclists. Too many car drivers thinking they own the road.

Robert Mason: Make it compulsory four hours in a HR an four hours on a moped under supervision before you can upgrade from P2 to Open class. You can't start to understand the other person until you've walked a mile in their shoes!

Steve Sandford: About time the Authorities went on the news and told how almost 90 per cent of truck accidents that the truck driver is NOT at fault.
