LOCAL governments are reportedly gearing up to charge for allowing Restricted Access Vehicles, according to reports received by the Western Roads Federation.
According to council minutes published on December 13, the City of Kwinana is one of the few local governments seeking to establish a mechanism to compensate for "increased road degradation” by imposing a levy as part of their approval process for heavy vehicles.
Ultimately the council is seeking to instead receive compensation for what they see as a failed agreement between Main Roads, over funding for the upkeep of these local roads.
