HOT TOPICS: QPS operation targets heavy vehicles

THE Queensland Police Service was out in force this month as part of a national safety campaign targeting heavy vehicles on the road.

Operation Papa Austrans was a national road safety blitz that involves intercepting and targeting heavy vehicles and drivers.

Readers weren't happy truckies were targeted.

Jason Phillips: Do you expect anything less? The cops are always targeting truck drivers to get their quotas. Remember police are only there to raise and collect not protect and serve.

Brian Lawler: Would be 100 times the amount un-roadworthy cars than trucks on our roads, take those piles of crap of our roads and there's half the congestion cleaned up.

Col Watkins: How are they going to get their Xmas bonus, 10 or 15 percent apparently, if they don't book truckies for stupid offences!

David Roll: More like "Operation help pay for our Xmas Party". How about making this across the board and not just heavy vehicles!

Billy Banos: There must be a shortage of criminals knocking out 72-year-old ladies to rob them since they say there's not enough police but there's so many out there chasing truck drivers.

Bruce Skelton: How many vehicles have they stoped is that 11 out of a thousand they always make out that's its dangerously.
