Hot new bridal trends have a rustic edge

SHADES of champagne and light pink with a rustic edge is the hot new trend for weddings in Mackay.

Dozens of brides-to-be, their attendants, friends and relatives checked out the new ideas at Mackay's third annual Wedding and Events Expo.

"The latest trends are hessian, vintage... (but) they want elegance," expo co-ordinator and wedding decorator Tez Grantham said.

"Candlelight, lots of light... rustic, like the mis-matched jars on the table."

Mrs Grantham said she had seen colours and themes change over the past seven years, along with dress designs, decorations and cake preferences.

"It used to be a lot brighter... but now (it's) softer," she said.

"You still get your blue sometimes, but they like the champagne pinks and baby pinks. You (can still) get the girls that want the purple and pink, but there are lot more wanting that vintage (touch)."
