Honour Reservists by holding march

RE: RESERVE Forces Day Saturday, June 28.

After having served in the Reserves for three years, we are staunch supporters of this special day and have been for 10 years.

It was very sad the organisers did not deem it appropriate to have a march this year, their comment being not enough support.

What about little Joe Blow, they matter as well. They volunteered their time to do their duty for their country, most unpaid or paid a pittance.

Their comments were also that everyone is getting older and can't walk the distance.

To involve the community, use the community.

The army, navy and air force all have jeeps - use them to transport the men and women.

That's what the whole day is about, being proud of your duty to your country.

Please don't stop the march.

The march reminds people, the community, what Reservists are all about.

Heartless policy

I THINK our public should contemplate if a situation arose in Australia where Australians had to flee the country against genocide and found some other country, providing patrol boats to turn them back to be butchered by the people they were fleeing from, to be very heartless bastards.

This is the situation the Liberal Party created when they supplied patrol boats at Sri Lanka.

This decision convinced me one again that Tony Abbott would stop at nothing to gain his end.

I find our policy on refugees to be very inhumane in general.

The millions of people made into refugees and seeking a peaceful place to survive should not be described as terrorists etc but at least be treated with respect as unfortunate.

The willingness to send the child born in Australia back with her mother to a country she knew nothing about made me wonder what sort of country we are turning into, along with reducing $1 billion in foreign aid when it is really badly needed at this period.

Ill-timed roadwork

AS WE are all aware there are major roadworks being performed at Blacksoil with the building of the new interchange.

As a result of this work Haigslea-Amberley Rd is being used as a detour by a large number of people wishing to get to Ipswich from the west. In fact, it was the designated detour over the last weekend when the Wulkuruka Connection Rd was closed.

My question therefore is, who was the moron who decided now would be a good time to do repair work to Haigslea-Amberley Rd, reducing it to one lane and causing huge delays to the traffic flow?
