Homophobia film to raise awareness

FORMER Sarina resident Bartholomew Sammut is taking a stand against homophobia in a big way.

Currently living in Berlin, Mr Sammut is in the process of creating a feature length film which addresses the issue in a humurous way.

"The film is called 'Nancy Pansy Hairy Mary' and is about two gay serial killers who have a taste for killing homophobes and the day they meet and fall in love," Mr Sammut said.

"The film is essentially a love story with a bloody edge that sets out to show the deadly effects of homophobia as well as turn the tables on it."

Tomorrow is International Anti-Homophobia Day and Mr Sammut's drive to increase awareness of the film coincides with the event.

He is also currently seeking donations to complete the independent production.

"We have a fundraising campaign running on pozible.com," he said.

"The film was written by myself and fellow Melbourne Resident Kelly West and is being directed by Christoph Scheermann, who has won several awards for his previous short films."
