COUNTRY dynamo Jess Holland is showcasing a different side of herself musically with the release of the third single This Ol' Guitar from her second long-player Whole Lot To Say.

The stripped back acoustic track is one of the singer's favourites from her album and has become a popular hit at her live shows.

It is an apt follow-up from her previous two singles - Revolving Door and Fine Lines - and is one of the rawest tracks on her album.

This Ol' Guitar tells the story of an old guitar and the pride of place it has in the heart of its owner, and unsurprisingly, it is a personal tale.

In fact, Jess still has the guitar that the song is penned about - an old battered nylon string that she took everywhere with her. It was the guitar that she cut her teeth on and so has a special sentimental value.

"The guitar still sits under my bed at home," Jess said.

The idea for the track was buzzing around in her head for a while prior to Jess sitting down to put it on paper.

"I knew I wanted to keep it quite stripped down and just have guitar and vocals, so the rest just fell into place. It was the quickest track to record and finish because there is only two elements. I just wanted to keep the sound raw and real to showcase the lyrics. There was a no frills approach to this one."

Jess Holland hasn't really stopped working since the release of her debut album Introducing... Jess Holland in 2011.

She's also a three-time Toyota Star Maker finalist and has been earning acclaim from fans and critics alike.

She released her second album Whole Lot To Say in March 2014 to rave reviews.

Since then she has been consistently on the road, touring the country, garnering new fans at every show.
