SUNfest fun continues with mosaics and many other activites

THE SUNfest fun continues.

The youth holiday program is providing kids across the region with great holiday activities.

Yesterday's activities included aquatic fun, laser skirmish, mosaic platter, chess coaching clinic, funky clay heads and erbu artwork.

Beverly Ridsdill-Kenny, mosaic artist from flying arts said, "today's been lovely".

Ms Ridsdill-Kenny ran the mosaic platter class, and she will be mentoring other art classes across SUNfest.

"I've done a lot of school programs in Moreton Bay," she said.

Beverly said she has enjoyed her time in Gladstone.

"I like the way Gladstone embraces the arts, they have some amazing exhibitions."

In relation to yesterdays class she said: "Once they get going (on mosaics) and get into the zone it's usually really good."

"Today, we have mainly first timers, but there's always some who have done mosaic previously at school."

Formerly having an interior decorating business, Ms Ridsdill-Kenny found her love for mosaic while overseas.

"I fell in love with mosaic in Venice. I studied the art there and I just love sharing what I have learnt."

The creative edge of the participants was clear throughout the class.

"Everyone here will come back next week for the grouting," she said. SUNfest provides youngsters across the region with great fun.
