Excellent turnout at Hockey sign-on

A LATE downpour could not dampen the Gladstone Hockey Association sign-on day on Saturday.

Life member Shane Brodie said there was an excellent turnout, with many new players putting pen to paper to play this season.

"With the advent of online signings, it was hard to tell how many did sign," Brodie said.

"Usually it's the new people to town who come down on sign-on days because they want to meet people and we had about 50 people come and go.

"I didn't realise there were so many kids until a downpour had them going for cover from the jumping castle."
