TENNIS: Lleyton Hewitt will roll back the years when he partners fellow Australian Jordan Thompson in the first round of the men's doubles at the Brisbane International.

Hewitt, a late addition to the tournament, will take the court on Tuesday with Thompson against last year's singles champion Grigor Dimitrov and his American partner Ryan Harrison.

"I'm excited to play with Jordan in the doubles,” Hewitt said.

"He had such a great Brisbane International last year, both in the singles and the doubles.

"There's always such a great atmosphere at this tournament, and we're looking forward to a tough match against Grigor and Ryan.”

Women's top seed and Wimbledon champion Garbiñe Muguruza will open the Day 3 session on Pat Rafter Arena when she launches her season against Serb Aleksandra Krunic.

It will be the pair's first meeting.

Following that match, Brisbane fans will get their first glimpse of fast-rising Canadian 18-year-old, Denis Shapovalov, when he faces Brit Kyle Edmund.

Brisbane local John Millman is one of the highlights of the night session when he takes on Canadian qualifier Peter Polansky.

First on court on Tuesday night will be Aussie wildcard Ajla Tomljanovic, who will continue her comeback from injury when she meets the winner of Monday night's clash between No.5 seed Konta and US Open finalist Madison Keys.

Tomljanovic defeated fellow Aussie wildcard Destanee Aiava in the first round.

Tomljanovic has split her two meetings with the big-hitting American Keys, while she has never played Konta, Britain's top-ranked player.
