Henning overlooked by Brisbane in AFLW draft

AUSSIE RULES: The Darling Downs will have to wait another season to be represented in the AFLW after the Brisbane Lions passed on Dalby junior Jessi Henning.

Entering into the Queensland draft pool, Henning was only eligible to be chosen by the Lions, which is currently the only team in the Sunshine State.

The attacking defender wasn't on Brisbane's radar however, as the club used its eight picks to recruit Paige Parker, Nat Grider, McKenzie Dowrick, Lauren Bella, Tori Groves-Little, Jesse Tawhiao-Wardlaw, Jacqui Yorston and Jade Ellenger.

After playing a role in Dalby's 2014 women's premiership victory, Henning has played out the past two years for UQ in the Queensland women's AFL competition.
