Hats off for CQU graduation day
FOR Jessica Smith the prospect of working in early childhood doesn't sound like work, in fact she would even do it for free.
Rolleston local Jess yesterday graduated with her Bachelor of learning management, early childhood from Central Queensland University.
Having put in four years of "blood sweat and tears" Jessica couldn't have been more excited about finally receiving her degree.
"For four years I've been studying, it's been quite a long time so I'm really excited and nervous for today," she said.
"There were a lot of late nights doing assignments.
"I also worked part time on and off and I had some really amazing mentor teachers that got me through it as well."
When it came to choosing what she wanted to study Jessica said it was an easy choice.
"It (early childhood) doesn't feel like work to me, I feel like I could just go and do it anyway and not get paid for it,” she said
"I really really enjoy it.
"I enjoy being around kids because they make me laugh, they do the funniest things."
Now with her bachelor in her hand Jessica will be heading out into the world to put her knowledge to good use.
"I have a permanent job starting at the beginning of next year in Gracemere," she said.
"I'm actually working full time at the moment at a kindergarten in Gracemere so I had to take the day off for this," she laughed.
