HARRY Foster's elimination MasterChef's semi-final tonight has resulted in an all-Noosa grand final showdown.

The 22-year-old narrowly missed out on a berth in tonight's MasterChef grand final after an intense two-course service challenge against finalists Matt Sinclair and Elena Duggan.

While his take on tiramisu impressed the show's judges, the unbalanced flavours of kingfish and lobster in his Italian-inspired main course was enough to send him home.

"At that point all of us were so emotionally drained I was actually relieved when I got eliminated," he told APN.

"To have made it that far, the money didn't matter and the title didn't matter.

"I learned so much from the show. It was an invaluable experience… I couldn't feel like a loser."

Harry said tomorrow night's grand final between Elena, a high school arts teacher who grew up in Noosa, and Matt, who became a coffee roaster after following his parents to Noosa, is too close to call.

"They both have their own strengths and weaknesses; it's impossible to tell (who's going to win)," he said.

"They're both amazing cooks. I couldn't pick one out."

Since leaving the reality cooking show Harry has landed his dream job in Tasmania.

The Rockhampton-born bartender is now a guest services manager at Pumphouse Point, a luxury wilderness retreat in the central highlands of the island state.

"I spent a couple of months down here last year before moving back to Queensland with my mum to focus on MasterChef," he said.

"I realised how much I missed the place. It's such a mecca for food and wine and tourism, and those things are my favourite things so I felt like I had no option but to come back."

The sea change, which has seen him living in Tasmania's wintry conditions, hasn't bothered the Queenslander.

"The snow's actually really cool; I love it, although it's a pain when you're trying to drive places," he said.

"When I wake up and drive to work I'll see deer wallabies and wombats everywhere. It's the most stunning scenery.

"And on my days off I love to go to Hobart and hit up all the restaurants."

Harry also has several other projects in the pipeline aside from his work in Tasmania.

"I'd love to do some pop-ups in Hobart," he said.

"And there's talk of a TV pilot and a book happening potentially. Both would involve tourism (as well as food) but it's a bit early to say more."

The MasterChef grand final airs tomorrow night at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
