Hannah's headpiece makes news
NEWSPAPERS aren't usually the material of fashion design but up-and-coming designer Hannah Graham likes to think otherwise.
The Buderim fashion lover has won an internship to Sydney after winning the fashion and millinery category of the QueensPlaza Avant Garde Student Design Competition.
"When I first got the call from Amber at QueensPlaza, she had quite a serious tone and asked me to verify my age and other details associated with my entry," Hannah said.
"I really wasn't sure where she was going with the conversation but then she did a total 360 (degrees) on me, so when she told me that I was this year's winner I couldn't believe it.
"I definitely had a teary moment and called my parents right away."
Hannah's headpiece was made entirely out of newspapers.
"I didn't have a set brainstorm or design ... I sort of just freestyled it and went papier-mache crazy," she said.
Hannah will be working with Akira Isogawa during her two-week internship in Sydney and said she was excited to learn from such a renowned fashion designer.
She went up against hundreds of other entries to win the all expenses paid trip to Sydney to work with Akira.
Hannah jets off in the next month to fulfil her dream.
The competition is now in its third year.
