Handy suggestions to keep meetings productive and on time
DO you sometimes think your meetings at times are disorganised, frustrating, lengthy and get nowhere?
You are not alone and poor meetings are a challenge for all organisations.
Keep in mind some things to get your next meeting on track and make sure it is effective.
Reward those that do smart things not just say smart things.
Only hold meetings as required and start and finish them on time.
Allow everyone the opportunity to speak and be open to all ideas.
Try a stand up meeting - everyone will be keen to stay on task and make decisions.
It's also important to realise that when there is a number of people at a meeting they can have clashing perceptions and opinions so it is vital to confirm the outcomes of decisions. Review the decisions made and communicate it at the meeting and to others so that everyone is aware of what they are doing.
Make sure the last words at a meeting are "Have we made any decisions today, and (if we have) everyone at the meeting understands the decisions and how are we going to communicate them"?
