REGIONAL community groups in drought-affected areas of Maranoa can apply for a share in $15 million in Federal Government grants from this week.

Maranoa member David Littleproud urged all eligible not-for-profit community organisations to apply for the Regional Drought Communities Small Grants Program.

"If there's one thing we've learned from this drought, it's that our bush communities are tough and resilient, this funding should help them soldier through these difficult times,” he said.

The small grants will be available to groups to deliver projects in drought affected regions focusing on reducing social isolation, leadership development and skills training and other group-based activities.

"For vast regions of Maranoa, there will be no harvest, and where there is a harvest, it will be below average,” Mr Littleproud said.

"That's why we're supporting community-based activities to relieve the stress.”

The funding will build on more than $1.8 billion in Federal funding for drought assistance since 2013.

"We've been on the ground listening and now we're taking action by introducing funding measures to help drought-stricken communities,” he said.

The grant distribution will be managed by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
