Graffiti vandals strike again
ANOTHER Whitsunday business has been targeted by vandals.
Whitsunday Foodservice staff arrived at their Galbraith Park Dr depot on Wednesday morning to find a wall and a delivery truck tagged with graffiti.
"It's more frustrating than anything," general manager Patrick Morrissey said.
"We've been there for 20-odd years and we've never had any graffiti that I know of."
Whitsunday Police Station officer in charge Senior Sergeant Nathan Blain said there had been a rise in graffiti of late, with nearby Myer Lasky Dr targeted on April 4.
"Police are investing a couple of counts of graffiti in the Cannonvale area in relation to businesses," he said.
Mr Morrissey described the vandals as "pretty game", with the Lennon Brothers Circus, nearby the depot, opening on the same night.
"They would have had to go past the circus to get through," he said.
"(And) coming around the back through the bush, there's a caretaker that lives on site."
Mr Morrissey called on locals to speak up if they see anything untoward.
"The community needs to say 'I'm pretty sure I know the bloke that's done that' and dob him in," he said.
Snr Sgt Blain said anyone with information should contact police.
"We're asking anyone with information to come forward and let police know," he said.
"Police compile an intelligence database on all the graffiti and try to match it up with other graffiti and known offenders in the area."
