Government reveals plans for South Australian roads

FRUSTRATED motorists will soon get a smoother ride between Adelaide and Clare with four overtaking lanes to be installed as part of an accelerated regional roads program.

But the news comes as a major city project aimed at getting commuters to the northern suburbs, and further out to the regions, has been delayed by three months.

Infrastructure Minister Stephan Knoll said the Northern Connector project would now be opened in late February or early March.

Once complete, the six-lane 15.5km motorway will link the Northern Expressway, South Rd Superway and Port River Expressway.

Mr Knoll also unveiled new projects to be prioritised over the next few years.

An upgrade of the Horrocks Hwy, connecting the Clare Valley with the city, will become a priority after its funding was fast-tracked.
