FOR Lesly and Nessie Gleich, it's a case of another day, another wedding anniversary.

The couple, both in their 90s, on Tuesday celebrated 70 years of marriage, the "platinum anniversary.”

Perhaps "celebrated” is the wrong word.

In the words of Mr Gleich: "It's just another day, isn't it?”

"Yesterday's Monday, today is Tuesday and tomorrow will be Wednesday.”

When prodded, he conceded 70 years was a "pretty fair go.”

He said there would be no cake and no party.

"I might have a beer tonight if I'm allowed. Life goes on,” he said.

Daughter-in-law Lyn Gleich was excited for them.

"As I said to them, not many people have 70 wedding anniversaries,” she said.

"A lot of people don't live for 70 years, let along spend that long married.”

The couple were married at the Apostolic Church of Queensland at Binjour and live at Mundubbera, where they moved to following the 2011 floods, which washed them from their home at Philpott.

"We walked out with the clothes on our back,” Mr Gleich said.

Mrs Gleich is unwell, but Mr Gleich is still known among the couple's five sons as the man to call when their tractors need repairing.

He still has a truck licence, which he must renew every five years due to his age, much to his chagrin.
