Gladstone food lovers may soon get taste of Brisbane sharing-board craze

IT HAS become a popular haunt for Gladstone member Glenn Butcher and now some of the gems on the menu of Brisbane’s The Riff Bar & Bistro will be coming to Rocksalt.

Rocksalt owner Jason Faint has been dancing between Gladstone and his new restaurant in Brisbane’s Emporium for the past six weeks.

“When we first opened we had quite a different cuisine than what we have in Rocksalt but it has changed and is now looking more like Rocksalt’s,” he said.

“But then again there are a number of things at The Riff that we want to implement in Rocksalt.”

Some of those things are the shared boards that Mr Faint says are a favourite of Mr Butcher’s.

The boards at The Riff allow customers to choose three meats from barramundi, chicken ballantine, rib fillet, lamb shoulder and pork steak and three sides.

“(Mr Butcher) has come in a couple of times, actually,” Mr Faint said.

“He brought (minister for education) Kate Jones in and they enjoyed a couple of vinos and sharing boards and he fell in love with the sharing board and has been back again since.”

Mr Butcher is not the only Gladstone-person-on-tour who has supported the new restaurant.

“It’s the good culture of Gladstone.

“We look after each other no matter where we are and what we do,” Mr Faint said.

“Also they have a partial interest to see what we can do at Rocksalt.”
