Give the greyhound industry a fair go

I HAVE been a great fan and supporter of greyhound racing for many years and am in a syndicate with six mates about to start racing our third greyhound.

As you know the greyhound industry has suffered very bad publicity due to a very small minority of trainers doing the wrong thing.

I am in full support of these people being punished and dealt with appropriately, however it is wrong that the 95% of trainers, owners and others who truly look after and love their greyhounds to be tarred with the same brush.

My major concern is the reports I am receiving is that the current Labor Government in Queensland does not care about Queensland greyhound racing.

For example, they just dropped prize money by 30%, and are only concerned about looking good in the public eye.

Greyhound racing has and always will be the Aussie battler’s way of being involved in a sport that doesn’t cost you the earth to have a lot of fun as either a trainer or owner and the Government should be bolstering the industry not trying to cripple it because 5% of the people involved were very ordinary human beings.
