Giddy-up: Coast actor's hilarious True Story cameo
ANDY Ryan gives a scene-stealing performance tonight on True Story With Hamish & Andy.
In tonight's season finale of the hit comedy show, which features Aussie regaling Hamish Black and Andy Lee with incredible stories which are then reenacted, the Mountain Creek-raised actor plays wannabe jockey Paul, who manages to run on to the track at the Melbourne Cup.
The former Sunshine Coast Grammar School and Matthew Flinders Anglican College student stars opposite comedians Luke McGregor and Dave Hughes in the episode, which was filmed at Flemington Racecourse.
Speaking to the Daily on the set, director Tim Bartley was full of praise for Ryan's acting chops.
"Andy is this ball of energy who can turn it on in a heartbeat," Bartley said.
"Unlike some shows where you have eight weeks to build up relationships, Luke and Andy had to rock up in the morning and be on straight away. There's no warm-up and we don't do much rehearsal. This was one of our big ticket items in the series and we had one day (to film) at Flemington."
True Story with Hamish & Andy airs tonight at 8.40pm on Nine.
