"SO MANY battles waged over the years. Yet none of them like this. Are we destined to destroy each other, or can we change who we are and unite?  Is the future truly set?"

The latest trailer for X-Men: Days of Future past is out, the sequel to X-Men First Class, released in 2011 and set in 1962.

Channeling the classic Terminator 2 line of "There's no fate but what we make", Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is dispatched into the past in an effort by mutant leader and hero Professor Charles Xavier or Professor X (Patrick Stewart) to save us from a war-torn future.

The classic characters from the first three major X-Men films: Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Rogue and obviously Jackman features alongside the new recruits who made their debut in X-Men First Class.

Jennifer Lawrence as the super-sexy Mystique, James McAvoy as the younger Professor X and Michael Fassbender as a youthful Magneto.

For those Games of Thrones tragics, keep an eye out for Peter Dinklage - Tyrion Lannister - as the terrifyingly brilliant Bolivar Trask.

Marvel and 20th Century Fox have created a detailed and fantastic viral campaign that has been quietly running since last year, going as far as to create a very convincing corporate website for Trask Industries. Nowhere does it even mention the upcoming X-Men film.

It will hit cinemas here on May 22.
