Miles residents, retune your digital television again today
MILES residents will need to retune their televisions from 3.30pm today.
Tara residents are next, with their retuning due at 3.30pm tomorrow.
Free-to-air TV channels, ABC, 7QLD, WIN and Southern Cross Ten will change in both towns.
These moves are part of a national retune programme that will free up broadcasting spectrum for new services such as mobile broadband.
The date of the retune for each area depends on which tower viewers receive their signal from.
Key dates:
- Miles viewers will need to retune their TV on 4 August after 3.30pm
- Tara viewers will need to retune their TV on 5 August after 3.30pm
- Toowoomba and surrounds viewers will need to retune their TV from 12 August after 3.30pm.
Retuning is done using the remote. For most systems press the 'menu' button on the remote. Look for settings such as 'channels' or 'auto-tuning' and follow the prompts to retune.
The retune is scheduled to avoid evenings and weekends.
There may be some temporary disruption to all TV services on retune day.
Service outages on the days before and after the retune may also be necessary, due to work being conducted at the transmission site.
As the retune simply moves free-to-air TV channels to a new location on the broadcast spectrum, it is unlikely to change TV reception or coverage.
For more information about the retune, scheduled outages, or to sign up for an SMS or email reminder, visit the retune website, or call the Digital Ready Information Line on 1800 20 10 13, 8am to 10pm (AEST), 7 days.
