Get involved in SUNfest fun these school holidays

THIS is a great region to be a kid.

That sounds like a corny line, but look at the activities available to kids this summer holiday.

The SUNfest program, run by Gladstone Festivals and Events, is a credit to the organisers and speaks volumes about this community.

Even if you put aside SUNfest, this region has so much to offer kids. It is the perfect outdoors town.

Fishing doesn't get any better than this. They can swim at the beach. They can play every sport imaginable.

We have great little libraries and it is pretty easy to get around the place on a BMX (or whatever kids are riding these days).

I have to say, I am jealous of Gladstone kids.

I have no regrets about where I grew up in suburban Melbourne, but Gladstone would have been much better.

The Observer's newest reporter Tegan Annett will be presenting all the fun from SUNfest 2013 and if you have kids (or if you are a kid), have a look at the schedule and get involved.
