GEORGE Calombaris is again attracting the spotlight for all the wrong reasons with one of the MasterChef judge's flagship restaurants to face court over allegations of mass food poisoning.

A host of diners claim they were left violently ill after eating from a set Mother's Day menu at the celebrity chef's Hellenic Republic restaurant in Kew, Melbourne in 2014.

The symptoms reportedly ranged from vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps.

Now, North Fitzroy man David Schreuder is suing the restaurant and Mr Calombaris' Made Establishment Group after suffering from norovirus encephalitis, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Mr Schreuder is seeking damages due to negligence in "causing or permitting the infected food to be served to him."

The allegations are another blow in what has been a difficult period for Mr Calombaris.

The 38-year-old was recently charged after he assaulted a teen who heckled him at the A-League grand final.

The teen's sledge was based on reports Mr Calombaris' Made Establishment Group had underpaid 162 of his staff members by $2.6 million.
