Gates keeping ahead in cooling

NEWER heavy duty engines with advanced emissions systems, from 2007 to current model year, produce higher under-hood temperatures. Less air movement in new emission engines creates an extreme engine compartment environment that requires superior heat-resistance.

In these low airflow and high-heat conditions, such as in buses with engine front (EF) and engine rear (ER) configurations, Gates silicone coolant hose is the perfect product.

Gates now offers a complete line of high-quality, four-ply silicone coolant hose, in straight and elbow sections, and in industry standard blue. Straight sections are available in two varieties of recommended operating temperatures - 176.6 degrees and 260 degrees. The severe service hose is designed with a meta-aramid reinforcement that is surrounded by a specially compounded silicone.

These two materials work together to allow the hose to withstand heat spikes up to 260 degrees.

The Gates heavy duty silicone elbows, 45 degrees and 90 degrees, are engineered to perform at a recommended operating temperature range of -53.9 degrees to +176 degrees. These hoses are used when the routing passes near the turbo or the hot side of the charged air system.

Gates silicone hoses reduce down-time and lower the cost per kilometre.
