Garbage truck blaze clogs motorway

A RUBBISH truck has caught fire on the Bolte Bridge in Port Melbourne causing major delays to traffic heading out of the city.

The truck caught fire on the ramp from the Bolte Bridge to the West Gate Fwy about 12.15pm and about 12 MFB firefighters were called to put out the blaze.

The truck is being towed off the bridge to Todd Rd to reduce traffic delays, an MFB spokesman said. Delay times for motorists are not known.
