AUTHOR George R.R. Martin has given the finger to Game of Thrones fans who have wondered whether he will finish writing his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series before his death.

In an interview with Swiss daily newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, Martin said he found the question offensive and had an explicit message for those asking.

"I find that question pretty offensive frankly when people start speculating and my health," he said.

"So f*** you to those people."

He then gave the finger to the interviewer.

Martin has published five books since first releasing A Game of Thrones in 1996.

The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring are still to come.

Neither have a solid release date.

Watch the author answer a "pretty offensive" question -- WARNING: explicit language.
