GALLERY: Sporty SUV Holden Captiva ticks all the boxes
I'D like to start this review with a rant - something I have never done before, but believe it necessary.
Since when did owning an SUV mean you weren't fun?
Gone are the days when these vehicles had a strong 'soccer-mum' stigma. Last time I checked, my 'children' had four legs and were covered in fur.
A lot of your SUV's these days have adopted a sportier appeal, are packed with power and bring an impressive range of versatility to fit more than just 'the family' into the full equation.
Over the years, Holden Captiva has adapted and evolved to meet the needs of our lifestyle - the busy worker, holiday maker, family chauffer, sports enthusiast, adventurer and everything in between.
Ticking all the boxes, the top of the line Captiva LTZ is an impressive specimen of SUV driving - going above and beyond typical qualities you've come to expect.
Striking in carbon flash black, topped with chrome trimmings including front grille, wheels, door handles, side skirting and rear bumper as well as LED daytime running lights, gives this car an irrefutably eye-catching appearance.
It's wide, muscular stance is not only aesthetically pleasing but also provides a comfortable and stable drive.
Available in two wheel drive (LS model only) and active all wheel drive, including petrol and diesel options (diesel pictured), the Captiva is both fuel efficient and fun to drive.
Holden Captiva LTZ is loaded with layers of electronic and high-tech gadgets, including the MyLink infotainment system with 7" colour touch screen.
The system features phone projection featuring Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, enhanced voice control, Siri eyes free, hands-free calling, satellite navigation, access phone contacts, calendars, reminders, play lists and more.
Auxiliary ports and USB are also available for music streaming and phone charging and dual zone climate control.
The tech-savvy sophistication does not end there - Holden Captiva LTZ also features passive entry and start with sensor key technology so you can leave your keys in your pocket or handbag and simply start the car with the push of a button or by carrying the senor key with you.
Comfort is also a key component with Captiva - now more than ever.
The driver and passenger seat is magnificently positioned to give you plenty of room in front of you, with amazing secret storage spaces in the centre console and throughout the cabin.
The rear seats can be laid completely flat to fit in those extra-long items for your next adventure and ample room in the boot for your fur babies to enjoy on the journey, or luggage, eskies and tent for that camping trip you've been planning.
Add to this a moon roof to enjoy the delights of the outdoors within your ride.
What's most surprising about this SUV is the light and effortless steering - driving pleasure has been something Holden has put great thought and meticulous engineering into to ensure driving a larger vehicle doesn't 'feel' like it.
Despite its size, Captiva makes manoeuvring easy with large side mirrors and reversing camera to ensure your surrounds are in your sight.
The 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine (vehicle pictured) delivers power when you want it with 135kW at 3800rpm and 400Nm of torque at 1750 - 2750rpm.
Holden has also equipped your side with safety in mind.
Features such as blind spot technology, hill start assist and a five-star ANCAP safety rating ensures the very best in safety is encased for your protection.
