WE certainly live in exciting times when it comes to technology.

Touch screens, drones, electric this, automatic that - it's baffling to acknowledge that when I think back to my first car had a tape deck!

Today, vehicles go beyond the realm of looks and power - gadgetry is just as important, if not the cherry on top that tips many buyers over when it comes to choosing their next car.

DC Motors Honda Michael Lawrence has witness first-hand just how powerful technology is swaying opinions.

"I think it's a major factor these days," he said.

"We have had plenty of enquiries so far with this new model. Our display at Stockland Rockhampton has received plenty of attention and interest is starting to come through thick and fast."

The new Honda Civic is not only turning heads with a revolutionary new sporty, grounded look, but its list of gadgets and technological advancements are nothing short of eyebrow raising.

From its low, muscular stance emerges a roofline inspired by the world's most elegant sporting coupes.

Contoured wheel arches perfectly frame a set of 17 inch alloy wheels while a futuristic array of LED daytime running lights give the exterior of the new Honda Civic VTi-L a bold and yet beautiful appeal.

Attention to detail follows through to the interior, where a beautifully constructed dash awaits.

Premium soft-touch surfaces combine with high-tech gadgetry like electrostatic volume control, dual-zone climate control and push button start to satisfy every creature comfort.

And if all this seems generous, so too will Civic's practicality - with improved visibility in front and more boot space in the rear.

The manual park brake even has a more intuitive electronic design.

Honda Civic VTi-L impresses with irrefutable power and control.

The 1.5 litre VTEC turbocharged engine generates an impressive 127kW of power with ruthless efficiency of just 6 litres of fuel per 100km.

Of course, the traditionalists are satisfied with a 1.8 litre option - both of which come paired to Honda's all-new continuously variable transmission for smoother, more rapid acceleration.

Straight from the world of tomorrow the Honda Civic VTi-L brings a myriad of technological features including Apple Car Play and Android Auto, voice commands, digital radio, multi-angle rear-view camera and the added advantage of LaneWatch - designed to reduce the notorious blind spots.

The sporty sedan also has a range of impressive safety features to aid safer driving.

Forward collision warning and collision mitigation breaking system reacts to a hazard before you might.

Lane departure warning and road departure mitigation system pays attention even if you don't and lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow keeps you in a safe position on the road for the long ride ahead.

Best of all, call it the cherry on the sundae, but the price is something to smile about - starting at $25,990.
