Gallery dedicates special wall to late art lover
ART brought out the happiness in Catherine Dunn, she was actively involved in all things arty and enjoyed painting, charcoal drawings and pottery.
She would often paint pictures of native flowers growing in her paddock, so much so her family has a room full of her designs.
For nine years Catherine and her family were a big part of the art community, before she passed away last year.
After being diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis, which causes blood cancer and heart problems, Mrs Dunn sadly passed away in July.
To honour her memory, one of Mrs Dunn's paintings will hang in a new gallery space dedicated to the artist.
The Orange Wall Gallery, named after Mrs Dunn's favourite colour, will be a constant reminder of her contributions to the gallery.
Starting as a volunteer, she was soon employed by the gallery and continued engaging with the community.
Gallery director Karina Devine said Mrs Dunn took on various roles and would be greatly missed.
"Catherine was a very positive person and an incredible contributor, both as a volunteer and staff member and lovely to have around,” she said.
Mrs Dunn contributed to local groups, the Jumpers and Jazz festival, Knitchen group and the potters' group.
The opening of the gallery space coincides with International Museum Day, which highlights the importance of museums and galleries in the community.
Local artists, gallery and museum workers shared their experiences and works which inspired them.
The Orange Wall Gallery is open for viewing and accepting exhibitions.
One of Mrs Dunn's paintings will be on display permanently to commemorate her work and love of art.
